More about Tenerife

The north and south of the island contrast
with each other in terms of climate and environment: the north is
slightly cooler, wetter and less developed than the more urbanised,
sun-drenched south.
The island is dominated by Mount Teide, its volcano and highest point. At 3718 metres above sea level, Teide is not only the highest peak in Spain, but is the third largest volcano in the world. Taking a cable car ride to the very top is an adventure not be missed.
Tenerife South airport is 20-30 minutes drive away in your hire car. The north is somewhat quieter, but contains the lovely resort of Puerto de la Cruz, which unlike some of the southern resorts has retained a lot of its old-world charm. Tenerife North airport serves this area.

Most of Tenerife's most popular resorts are
to be found in the south of the island. Playa de las Americas is
probably the best known, and is a lively, modern, high rise resort.
To the east is Los Christianos, and to the west are the elegant,
upmarket Fanabe and El Duque. A little further down the coast can
be found Los Gigantes, a resort characterised by its fabulous
cliffs. The best way to explore what is on offer on tenerife is to
rent a car for some of your holiday.
Santa Cruz, Tenerife's capital city, lies on the north-eastern corner of the island. It is a modern urbanisation, but with many hidden treasures. The city's principal street, which stretches up from the main square, houses many recognisable international chains. But step a little further, and it is possible to find fascinating designer boutiques and authentic Canarian restaurants. There is a stunning concert hall, and Santa Cruz is also home to one of the world's largest carnivals. If you're not staying in town why not hire a car and come to santa Cruz for the day?
Tenerife offers a range of accommodation wide enough to suit all possible tastes and budgets. It is possible to stay anywhere from a basic self-catering apartment to a five star luxury hotel and everywhere in between. Whether you want to save or splurge, relax or go wild, Tenerife is the island for you.
